We interviewed Barbara Mounier from Hydraloop. Hydraloop empowers people and organizations to save water and energy by offering smart and affordable water recycling products. We believe that water recycling should become a standard item in every single home, just like a fridge, oven or washing machine.
1) Your company was selected out of 240+ applications. What has the Emaar Innovation Challenge meant for your company?
The Emaar Innovation Challenge was an excellent opportunity for Hydraloop (and especially for our dedicated Middle East team) to get in direct contact with the people at Emaar that are shaping the future of construction in the Emirates. We met with jury members, strategists, and decision makers, we gained valuable insights in their mode of operation, and we started to build longer-term working relationships with them. The overall forward-thinking atmosphere at Emaar, the energy of this this specific event, and the clear impact of sustainability-driven change in the building industry – these are strong signs that Emaar is more than ready to take on the challenges ahead, and that our solutions for saving water on building-level can contribute to a future with enough water for all.
2) How were the overall days for you in Dubai (networking, meeting at Emaar, fun part with Burj Khalifa visit and boat trip)?
What a week! The group of finalists was impressive, the innovations they brought forward are truly impactful, the organization was smooth, the quality of the different program parts was high, the meetings were promising, the fun part was a blast. Well done!
3) How important was the pitch training given by Corrinke Boon (online and in Dubai)?
Corrinke delivered excellent feedback on content and presentation of the pitches. I believe that anyone, whether just starting out, or an experienced presenter, can gain insights from her personal and professional approach. After pitching in front of Corrinke and processing her remarks, every single one of the pitches in our group became better.
4) And of course, how was the Demo Day?
The demo day was intense, inspiring, and well executed. Being in a room with so many dynamic, purpose-driven entrepreneurs, presenting products and solutions that have the power to change the built environment towards sustainability, that kind of promise and energy has impact on everyone involved. I saw it in the faces of the jury-members, my co-presenters, and the whole audience. It’s almost like paying it forward: you get even more enthusiastic and want to do more!
