The 6 biggest projects in Saudi Arabia
NEOM is a planned cross-border city in the northwestern region of Saudi Arabia. The project aims to be a hub for innovation and technology, with a focus on renewable energy, biotechnology, and other emerging industries. The city is planned to cover an area of 26,500 square kilometers and will be built from scratch with an investment of $500 billion.
New Murabba is Riyadh's new downtown. A visionary project to build a new modern downtown in Riyadh, where technology and sustainability are fused into one. Described as the "new face of Riyadh", it will be built around the Mukaab structure, which will be "one of the largest built structures in the world". The structure will be 400 metres high, making it officially a supertall skyscraper, and 400 metres long on each side.
This is a luxury sustainable tourism project spanning 28,000 square kilometers along the western coast, focused on environmental preservation and exclusively using renewable energy sources.
Qiddiya is a mega-project located outside Riyadh, which will feature theme parks, sports facilities, and entertainment venues. The development aims to attract tourists and create new job opportunities in the entertainment and hospitality sectors. The project is expected to cost $8 billion and will be completed in phases, with the first phase set to open in 2023.
Amaala is a luxury tourism project located on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia. The development aims to attract high-net-worth individuals and create a new standard for luxury tourism. The project will feature resorts, residences, and cultural facilities, and is expected to cost $20 billion.
Diriyah Gate is a major development project located in the historic district of Diriyah, outside Riyadh. The project aims to preserve the cultural heritage of the area while developing it into a modern tourist destination. The development will feature hotels, restaurants, and retail outlets, and is expected to be completed in 2030.
